List of Finished Books Reading
List of Finished Books

What is this?

This is a list of all the books I've read since 2020. Some books from before are listed, but the list is not complete.

The titles are in the language I read them. If I still have them, I will also provide the ISBN of that edition. The order is:

  • Alphabetical by author, from A-Z.
  • Alphabetical by series/book, from A-Z
  • Chronological order of the (main books of the) series if present
  • For spin-offs, by release date, oldest to newest.

This page is only updated when I finish a series of books or a single book (if it is not part of a series).

Sometimes, I'll write some notes on them on this page as well, but not always. They'll be indented in the unordered list.

Books from before 2020

C.S Lewis

  • Das Wunder von Narnia (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)
  • Der König von Narnia (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)
  • Der Ritt nach Narnia (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)
  • Prinz Kaspian von Narnia (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)
  • Die Reise auf der Morgenröte (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)
  • Der silberne Sessel (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)
    • By far my favourite in the series, especially if you're familiar with Plato's "Cave Allegory"
  • Der letzte Kampf (ISBN: 978-3-8000-5584-5)

Geroge R.R. Martin

  • Game of Thrones 1: Der Winter Naht (ISBN: 978-3-7645-3152-2)
    • Literally the entire book is sex and fighting, there was almost no nuance to it

J.K. Rowling

  • Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen
  • Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens
  • Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban
  • Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch
  • Harry Potter und der Orden des Phönix
  • Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz
  • Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes
    • I hate the entire series, it's a snoozefest and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy
  • Harry Potter und das Verwunschene Kind
    • I gave it another chance with this one, but it's also ass

J.R.R. Tolkien

  • Der Kleine Hobbit (ISBN: 3-7903-0133-7)
  • Der Herr der Ringe (the red 2001 edition from Klett-Cotta, can't find the ISBN)

Michael Ende

  • Die Unendliche Geschichte
    • Don't watch the movies if you want to keep your version of the characters you made up while reading. They suck

Ransom Riggs

  • Die Insel der Besonderen Kinder (ISBN: 978-3-426-51057-5)
    • This book was fucking scary, but very worth the read
    • The photographs made the book a lot better than it already would have been

Suzanne Collins

  • Die Tribute von Panem Tödliche Spiele
  • Die Tribute von Panem Gefährliche Liebe
  • Die Tribute von Panem Flammender Zorn

Books since 2020

Barney White-Spunner

  • Berlin The Story of a City (ISBN: 978-1-7411-8156-6)
    • Too much stuff happening in too few pages
    • Very interesting read, but write notes, and take breaks. It's quite overwhelming IMO

Bruce Dickinson

  • What Does This Button Do? (ISBN: 978-0-00-817243-5)
    • Interesting perspective, but don't expect much "Iron Maiden lore" to come out of it

Clifford Stoll

  • Kuckucksei
    • As a sys-admin whose parents were small children in the 80's, it's a really fascinating story. Well written too
    • I especially appreciate buying time by rubbing the cable with metallic keys, that's brilliant

Colson Whitehead

  • The Underground Railroad (ISBN: 978-0-7088-9840-6)
    • Lots of swearing and slurs, but wouldn't be nearly as accurate without them
    • Would only recommend for mature readers

C.S. Lewis

  • The Magician's Nephew (ISBN: 978-0-06-447110-7)
  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (ISBN: 978-0-06-447104-6)
  • The Horse and His Boy (ISBN: 978-0-06-447106-0)

  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (ISBN: 978-0-06-447107-7)
  • The Silver Chair (ISBN: 978-0-06-447109-1)
    • Favourite of the series, and even better in the original language
    • Please read it if you enjoy fantasy
  • The Last Battle (ISBN: 978-0-06-447108-4)

Derek Landy

  • Skulduggery Pleasant 1 (ISBN: 978-0-00-724162-0)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 2 Playing With Fire (ISBN: 978-0-00-725705-8)

  • Skulduggery Pleasant 8 Last Stand of Dead Men (ISBN: 978-0-00-748923-7)
    • Favourite of the series
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 9 The Dying of the Light (ISBN: 978-0-00-748928-2)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 10 Resurrection (ISBN: 978-0-00-821960-4)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 11 Midnight (ISBN: 978-0-00-828459-6)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 12 Bedlam (ISBN: 978-0-00-829568-4)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 13 Seasons of War (ISBN: 978-0-00-939624-5)
    • Best part of phase 2 for me
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 14 Dead or Alive (ISBN: 978-0-00-842001-7)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 15 Until the End (ISBN: 978-0-00-838636-8)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant 16 A Mind Full Of Murder (ISBN: 978-0-00-858582-2)
    • Feels very fast-paced and, in a way, short, when compared to the rest of phase 2
    • Still a great book
  • From the World of Skulduggery Pleasant Tanith Low in the Maleficent Seven (ISBN: 978-0-00-753194-3)
    • She's so cool
  • Skulduggery Pleasant Armageddon Outta Here (ISBN: 978-0-00-755952-7)
  • Skulduggery Pleasant Apocalypse Kings (ISBN: 978-0-00-846374-8)
  • The Skulduggery Pleasant Grimoire (ISBN: 978-0-00-847241-2)
    • I love SP but this book is useless if you read the other ones
  • From the World of Skulduggery Pleasant Hell Breaks Loose (ISBN: 978-0-00-858573-0)

J.R.R. Tolkien

  • The Lord of the Rings
    • My all-time favourite piece of writing
    • Don't talk with me about fantasy books without having read it first
    • No, the audio books and movies don't count

Marc Elsberg

  • Blackout Morgen ist es zu spät (ISBN: 978-3-442-38029-9)
    • I put it off for too long because I was too into English reading, but it's amazing
    • Especially after the whole Covid-19 pandemic, it feels eerily realistic in a way that I struggle to describe
    • Some of the latter scenes gave me chills (and still do if I think about them)

Michael Ende

  • The Neverending Story (ISN: 978-014-038633-2)
    • Please read the German one if you can, so much gets lost in translation

Ransom Riggs

  • Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children (ISBN: 978-1-59474-603-1)
    • Yep, it was still creepy, even like 10 years later and in English

Rick Riordan

  • Percy Jackson I The Lightning Thief (ISBN: 978-0-7868-3865-3)
  • Percy Jackson II The Sea of Monsters (ISBN: 978-1-4231-0334-9)

  • Percy Jackson IV The Battle of the Labyrinth (ISBN: 978-1-4231-0149-9)
  • Percy Jackson V The Last Olympian (ISBN: 978-1-4231-0150-5)
  • The Heroes of the Olympus I The Lost Hero (ISBN: 978-136805143-9)
  • The Heroes of the Olympus II The Son of Neptune (ISBN: 978-136805144-6)

Robin Hobb

  • Assassin's Apprentice (ISBN: 978-0-00-648009-9)
  • Royal Assassin (ISBN: 978-0-553-57341-1)
    • Became one of my favourites after less than 100 pages
  • Assassin's Quest (ISBN: 978-0-553-56569-0)
    • Incredible character growth but the ending left a bitter taste in my mouth
    • Maybe I was just too attached to a certain character and wished for a different ending, the book is still amazing

U. Poznanski

  • EREBOS (ISBN: 978-3-7855-7361-7)
